I was born in South Africa at the height of apartheid, born into a family that pushed against the restrictions that apartheid forced upon them to become writers, academics, educators and visionaries. This is the foundation that my character is built upon. 

 

I share my DNA with people who refused to be held down and placed into a box. I do not conform, it is not in my nature to go with the flow. I swim against the current, I move to the sound of my own heart. 

 

I’m intricate, complicated and contradictory.
